So glad the Cards secured home field advantage in the World Series. Look out, Rangers.
Even though he wasn't officially an all-star this year...here is an awesome video about Rivera and his skillz.
When was the last time a Royal got a hit in an all-star game? 1989. Painful.
Lots of talk about whether the HR derby is good or bad for HR hitters. This is just one article. But I have to say, it's definitely the least exciting thing about the all-star game. Except for their tribute to everyday community heroes.
This came out like 30-40 seconds after his death was announced. You know they had this one planned for a while.
Want to be an all-star? It helps if you face terrible teams. Maybe Beckett doesn't sux as much as we think he does. It still does not help me in fantasy, however.
A few non-All Star links:
I probably posted this last year - so it's time for an update. The best and worst in convenience and order processing fees on tickets. Boo BOS, yay MIL.
And some soccer links because I also dropped the ball on that:
Congrats to Matt for winning our World Cup Fantasy League.
Awesome graphic about Facebook and World Cup.
I don't know how I got to this, but it's a nice summary of the issues with the Uruguay (Suarez) handball on the goal line. I hate it. I understand the player was operating within the rules, and there was a definite incentive to do it -- but there is an incentive to dive, and I hate that as well.
Great graphic. It's in Portuguese, but If you open it in chrome, google will translate for you.
Bummer that the final was so ugly. I imagine if it had been prettier, we could have seen more people in the US take interest. It was card-heavy (like the whole tournament) and defensive. Also, too much karate.
Wait, maybe soccer will take over...thanks to the ESPYs. I still get excited watching it. But those other nominees got screwed.
